    Dr Smith is an experienced editor and medical writer with an academic background in clinical and biological sciences. Following completion of her PhD in Pharmacology and Therapeutics, which focused on liver regeneration, in particular the role of nitric oxide and prostaglandins in potentiating the liver regeneration cascade, Dr Smith worked for a biopharmaceutical company for 10 years as a clinical research scientist. During that time she gained extensive experience writing and editing clinical trial documents, including many to ICH, FDA, and EMA guidelines, and designed and wrote clinical trial protocols. Dr Smith is currently employed as a research facilitator in the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, and also works as a freelance medical writer and editor. She has experience in most medical science fields, including hepatology, endocrinology, immunology, hematology, virology, pharmacology, and parasitology, and has published her research in international peer-reviewed journals such as Nitric Oxide, the Canadian Journal of Gastroenterology, and the International Journal for Parasitology. A BELS Certified editor, Dr Smith joined the Edanz Group as an editor and writer in 2013.
